The Human Cost of AI: A Mother’s Plea for Safety

Megan Garcia will share the devastating impact of her son Sewell’s involvement with an AI chatbot on the platform Character AI. She will tell the story of how she was blindsided by a risk that she had previously been unaware of, and provide insights into what her experience teaches us about how dangerous AI chatbots really are. The session will also focus on the character of AI, the risks it poses, and the critical need for collective action to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
