Between January and May 2024, a man used a voice-changing app to impersonate a female teacher and contact girls from Scheduled Tribe communities by phone. Posing as a teacher responsible for educational scholarships, he instructed the girls to meet him in secluded locations to discuss scholarship matters. Police allege that he sexually assaulted at least seven girls, many of them minors, using the same deception. Authorities arrested the suspect and registered cases under the POCSO Act and other criminal provisions. The case was uncovered after one victim reported the abuse to police.
